Is it okay if the outer edge of the flange is 2.5 mm smaller?
As for how to choose, take PL50-16RF for example: it’s available for purchase on the market. Most of these products are small in size and thin in thickness, and many companies use them. Of course, if you go to a flange forging factory or purchase materials directly, it’s also possible to achieve precision. So it depends on the customer’s requirements; clearly, if it’s supposed to be a container, using such defective products is definitely not acceptable
Many things don’t follow the standards exactly
Generally, the tolerance can be 1-2 MM less (for smaller diameters)
The outer diameter of the flange is 2.5 smaller than a certain standard; it works fine at normal pressure, but I’m not sure about other conditions. Check if there are any requirements regarding deviations
It can actually be used. But if it’s a pressure pipeline, it doesn’t meet the standards.
In terms of design and use, it should be acceptable; it’s just that the standards are not met.
