I would like some advice. In our plant, the vibration level of the thrust bearing shaft of the syngas compressor turbine (GE) is generally within the normal range of 30–40 μm during normal operation. However, occasionally it spikes to 90 μm in an instant, causing the machine to shut down. Sometimes it’s possible to reduce the vibration levels by lowering the speed or load, but other times the spike occurs so quickly that there’s no time to make such adjustments before the machine shuts down.
