I can only say, please refer to Standard API RECOMMENDED PRACTICE 615
Dimensions, pressure class, purpose of the valve, working medium, operating conditions, and so on are typically determined first based on the function the valve is intended to perform – whether it should be a ball valve or some other type of valve – and then the pressure class and material of the valve body are decided based on the parameters of the pipes connected to it
