When I was at the winery before, starch was mixed with warm water to form a slurry, which was then pumped into the reaction vessels. The valves used in the pipelines were stainless steel butterfly valves, with a pipe diameter of Dn80. There have been no problems using it.
Both ball valves and butterfly valves can be used. For diameters over 100, butterfly valves are a cost-effective choice; ball valves are more reliable for smaller diameters
