There is a container at -55°C, with the pressure-bearing components made of stainless steel. Can the non-pressure-bearing components that are welded to these pressure-bearing components be made from pipes in accordance with GB/T 8163? I would appreciate your advice.
What material is the pipe for 8163? Different materials have different minimum operating temperature limits.
Generally, below -20°C, stainless steel materials are required
Personally, I think 10# and Q345D are suitable, as there is no internal pressure, so they certainly meet the requirements of low-temperature and low-stress conditions. Additionally, the temperature drops to -5°C after reaching 50°C; (if the container is not heat-treated, it would be +40°C, in which case only Q345D can be used).

GB150.2-2011, Clause 5.1.3: 1) It shall not be used for heat exchange tubes. 2) The design pressure shall not exceed 4.0 MPa. 3) The minimum operating temperature for 20# steel pipes is 0°C. 4) The wall thickness of the steel pipes shall not exceed 10 mm. 5) It shall not be used for media with an extremely high or high degree of toxicity. In cases of low temperature and low stress, requirement 1245 must be met first; 20# steel cannot be used, and even if 10# steel can be used, heat treatment is required
In terms of structural design, the container body is made of stainless steel, and the internal components are generally also made of stainless steel.

What the original poster is referring to is probably 20-inch steel pipes, and I personally think that’s not acceptable.
