There is a newly installed air separation unit; how should the spare parts inventory plan be determined?
Based on the usage period, for new equipment within three years, it is recommended to stock only the spare parts for the main components; Three years later, it is recommended to keep spares of different models for the on-site switching valves such as molecular sieves (of domestic manufacture), as well as spares for the vulnerable parts of the valves that are used frequently for adjustment. Most other small mechanical devices come with backup units; if your factory has a short procurement cycle, it may not be necessary to have backups.
To confirm the list and quantity of spare parts, the following factors need to be taken into consideration: 1. The equipment’s uptime rate; 2、Spare parts procurement cycle ; 3. Are there backups for the equipment/system? ; 4. Is it a critical device/system? ; 5. The service life of the equipment and its regular maintenance status. Without this information, it’s a bit meaningless to discuss separately what spare parts are needed for a single device. Of course, based on general circumstances, as mentioned above, that should be about it.
It is generally necessary to keep some spare parts on hand. As for parts that are damaged in accidents, their procurement should be determined based on their importance and the company’s financial capabilities
