Zhenhai’s world’s only fully enclosed coking unit begins trial operation After nearly two months of continuous efforts, the coking unit at Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., II was successfully upgraded and repaired, with qualified products being produced from its first tower at 8 a.m. on June 30. Five hours later, the coking removal phase began, marking the commissioning of the world’s only existing closed-loop coking production facility equipped with intelligent coking removal transportation and storage technologies. 　　“To achieve the replacement of human labor with machines and foster innovative development, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical started building the world’s first closed-loop intelligent coking unit equipped with advanced conveying and storage technologies three years ago. The aim is to overcome the challenges associated with odor emission, dust pollution, safety hazards, and limited automation in the production and transportation processes of coking units. ”Yang Yunfeng, an expert on Sinopec’s coking units, said. 　　In response to the problems encountered in actual production, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. collaborated with Luoyang Design Institute to successfully develop a closed-loop, intelligent coking removal, transportation, and storage technology for coking units. At the same time, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical integrates the production capacities of multiple enterprises that manufacture components such as crushers, belt conveyors, and rotary material lifters for this facility, thereby ensuring that all components are domestically produced. 　　“Before being delivered to Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, the device was assembled and tested in another location for two months. ”Yang Yunfeng said. After the installation was handed over on June 20, the company promptly carried out precise debugging and operational modifications to the equipment. After successfully completing key commissioning steps such as the use of wax oil, diesel, and gasoline as feedstocks, the facility began using residue oil as a feedstock for production at 10:08 on June 28, thereby laying the foundation for the world’s first closed-system coking plant to start operating yesterday.
