Please answer as per the title; I personally think it is necessary.
It is an insulating gasket, placed between two metal conductors to provide insulation and separation.
Don’t all flange connections require gaskets? I thought by insulation you meant eliminating the effects of static electricity or something like that
It’s just a carbon steel pipe flange connected to a galvanized flange – isn’t an insulating gasket needed?
There’s no need for it – zinc-plated pipes aren’t insulated in the first place, so what’s the point of using insulating sleeves?
Insulation kits are generally used at the boundaries of installations, or at the points where underground pipes meet above-ground pipes; It has nothing to do with changes in the pipe material.
I don’t think it’s necessary; since there’s already a coating on it, there’s no need for another one
If insulating gaskets are not used, then when these two sections of pipe (one made of ordinary carbon steel and the other of galvanized steel) are connected via flanges, it is equivalent to having one half of the pipe galvanized and the other half not galvanized. Is this acceptable?
The full name referred to by the original poster should be a flange insulating component; its use in this context is just one of its functions – it is used to separate two metals that are in direct contact and have a large potential difference between them, thereby preventing galvanic corrosion. Most of those I’ve come across are used at the joints of carbon steel and stainless steel flanges; this is generally required by foreign engineering companies, while domestic designs do not require it.
