Water is chosen as the cooling medium in industrial cooling due to its following advantages: (1) There is a high demand for cooling media, water is readily available, easy to obtain, and relatively inexpensive. (2) Water has a high specific heat capacity, resulting in good cooling effects. (3) Within the temperature range of normal industrial production, water does not undergo significant volume expansion or contraction. (4) Water has a high boiling point, and it does not vaporize within the typical temperature ranges of industrial production. (5) Water has good stability and does not decompose under normal conditions. (6) Water has good fluidity, making it easy to transport and distribute. (7) The control of water quality and temperature is relatively easy, and the relevant technologies are well developed. Therefore, whether from an economic or a technical perspective, water is the most suitable choice for cooling.
Fundamentally speaking, in terms of heat exchange, water has a relatively high specific heat capacity, exceeding 4. Of course, water is not the substance with the highest specific heat capacity; it is inexpensive, easy to obtain, harmless, and non-polluting, among other advantages
