Generally, is a Y-shaped filter the choice? How is such a setup selected in practice, and what should be the mesh size? The main purpose is to filter out rust and impurities
The type depends on the pipe diameter; the mesh size can be set as usual for the project. Steam doesn’t contain many impurities, otherwise there would be serious problems
Pipe filters are usually 30-40 mesh per inch.
Choose a Y-shaped filter; for such applications, a mesh size of 20 is usually selected.
It’s so low; will the 80-mesh version I chose get clogged easily?
Will 80 mesh be too fine?
80 mesh is a bit too fine and prone to clogging; it is recommended to use 20 mesh, with the maximum not exceeding 40 mesh.
A 0.8mm filter screen will do
Thoroughly purge the pipeline before putting it into use, and there will be little rust or sediment after it is in operation. The process needs to understand the equipment, and the equipment needs to remind the process; only by working together can success be achieved.
Well, it’s not so much the rust inside the pipes; rather, it’s the rust on the carbon steel casing of the graphite block heater that can get into the steam trap. That’s why I’m thinking of installing a filter
