No standards were found online, but design institutes use ductile iron in their designs. The unit’s management thinks that cast iron is too heavy and wants to replace it with fiberglass. I’m not sure if this will meet the requirements. Please, experts, help me figure this out. :)
I’m not sure if this is correct; it’s just for reference: as long as it meets one of the standards such as EN 124 \"Drainage covers and inspection hatch covers for road pavements\", CJ/T 3012-93 \"Cast iron inspection hatch covers\", CJ/T 121-2000 \"Inspection hatch covers made of recycled resin composites\", JC889-2001 \"Inspection hatch covers made of steel fiber concrete\", CJ/T 211-2005 \"Inspection hatch covers made of polymer-based composites\", CJ/T 130-2001 \"Drain grates made of recycled resin composites\", JC 948-2005 \"Drain grates made of steel fiber concrete\", and CJ/T 212-2005 \"Drain grates made of polymer-based composites\", then it’s sufficient to have the word \"fire protection\" marked on it. Among them, the European standard EN124 is widely used internationally.
The trouble is that our company often undergoes inspections, but there is no clear standard specifying whether fire manhole covers must be made of ductile iron or if other materials can be used as well. But the design department always uses ductile iron manhole covers when creating designs :)
