I’d like to learn more about ammonia-based desulfurization; I hope those who are experts in this field can share their knowledge with me. I want to know the advantages and disadvantages of ammonia-based desulfurization, as well as which plants in China are currently using this technology.
I work in the field of wire mesh demisters; we have supplied such products to customers using the ammonia-based desulfurization method. Regarding ammonia-based desulfurization, I can provide some introductions on it; please forgive any imperfections if there are any! Our clients use an ammonia solution as the absorbent for sulfur dioxide in flue gas to carry out flue gas desulfurization; the reaction between sulfur dioxide and ammonia produces ammonium sulfate, which can be used as a fertilizer. Of course, this process is not that simple; a series of operations such as processing, concentration, and purification are required for the product, with the final product being the anhydrous sulfuric acid. The flue gas after desulfurization is finally subjected to liquid removal using a wire mesh demister before being discharged. Speaking of the advantages and disadvantages of ammonia-based desulfurization, the advantage is that the resulting products can be reused, and the cost of using ammonia as the absorbent is relatively low. Many sources evaluate this method as one that enables fertilizer production while simultaneously carrying out flue gas desulfurization, thereby creating value. It’s killing two birds with one stone. Many manufacturers in China are already using this method; of course, this is what I am aware of.
