Is there only alkylation and no MTBE? Is the isomerization carbon five and carbon six isomerization?
CNPC’s Guangxi petrochemical plant is equipped with a 400,000-ton per year isomerization facility. The main isomerization processes include: single pass, isopentane removal + single pass, single pass + isohexane removal, and isopentane removal + single pass + isohexane removal. The octane number can reach 83+, 85+, 87+, or 90+. These processes are mature; the key factor is the catalyst, and there are already domestic catalyst manufacturers available
It’s likely difficult to get an answer to such a question; as the subsequent heavy oil processing procedures vary, especially the catalytic processes, the yield of liquefied gas changes significantly, which in turn leads to substantial variations in the scale of alkylation. Generally, for a refinery with a capacity of tens of millions of tons, the scale of alkylation is around 60,000 tons per year (in terms of product output). For isomerization, it depends on the type of oil used for the process; if it’s the oil obtained from reforming, then the scale of the facility is likely around 300,000 tons per year (in terms of raw material input).
240,000 tons of alkylation can basically be met through self-sufficiency in raw materials; I’m not very familiar with isomerization
