In our company’s alkali furnace, the conductivity of the feed water is 27, with a phosphate level of 0.073; the pH is 8.5. The pH of the furnace water is 10.7, with a conductivity of 436 and a phosphate level of 0.18. Drainage occurs every two hours, and water replacement is done once a week. First, the conductivity of the water supplied to the steam drum is too high, and the deaerated water does not meet the required standards. Second, the pH value of the boiler water is fine, but its conductivity is very high while the phosphate level is low. It is recommended that you check whether the substance added to the steam drum is actually phosphate.
Is the water coming out of the purification system treated with alkali or ammonia before it enters the boiler? If there is no alkali present, there are serious problems with such boiler water – its conductivity is too high, which indicates the presence of severe contamination. If an alkali has been added, there should be an approximate empirical range for the conductivity of the water, or the data from normal operating conditions can be used for comparison in order to determine what is causing the problem. Also, the poster mentioned that the boiler water parameters are out of range – which specific parameter is affected and by how much? Additionally, is condensed water being reused in the boiler feedwater? All of this requires a thorough examination and consideration. Process issues are comprehensive, but they manifest in a specific indicator.
