Does aluminate have a significant impact on the biochemical systems used in wastewater treatment?

The AO biochemical system is used to treat COD and ammonia nitrogen; in October the treatment was effective, but in November the sedimentation in the primary sedimentation tank was poor, which led to a large amount of wastewater containing aluminate entering the anaerobic system. Along with a drop in water temperature of about 9 degrees, this caused a sharp increase in ammonia nitrogen levels in the effluent from the system. The other process control parameters of the system have remained essentially unchanged. I would appreciate it if experts could help analyze the reasons, and it would be even better if suggestions for improvement could be provided. Thank you
Generally, temperature has a significant impact on activated sludge. If microbial activity is low, it is possible to extend the sludge age for ammonia nitrogen removal, increase the amount of returned sludge, reduce sludge discharge, and enhance terminal aeration. I have no experience with the effects of aluminate on organisms; under neutral to slightly alkaline conditions, it should not have much impact
