There is an existing petrochemical production site where stainless steel pipelines are used in most of the production processes, while the pipelines for transporting products use carbon steel. Multiple stainless steel ball valves (which belong to the category of large anodes) are installed between these carbon steel pipelines. As a result, all pipeline and valve connections are made using flange-insulated connections. However, design requirements dictate the use of anti-static cables for bonding purposes. Is it necessary to apply separate anti-static treatment to the ball valves and the stainless steel production pipelines?
Why are stainless steel valves installed on carbon steel pipelines? Replacement: Isolate and insulate the carbon steel pipeline system from the stainless steel pipeline system, with each system being grounded separately for static electricity.
This was an issue from the initial design phase, and it can no longer be changed. I just want to know whether it is necessary to apply anti-static treatment specifically to the ball valve; if so, what should be taken into consideration?
