What are the differences between these motor starting methods: electromechanical starting, solid-state starting, and variable-frequency starting?
Several startup methods I’ve heard of are: 1. Soft start, that is, starting with reduced voltage； 2. Star-delta starting is, in essence, a voltage-reduction starting method ； 3. Variable-frequency start.
Motor starting is divided into full-voltage starting (direct starting) and reduced-voltage starting. Full-voltage starting involves starting the motor at its operating voltage, but the starting current is very high, which results in a significant impact on the power grid. As for reduced-voltage starting, it allows the starting current to be reduced; devices used for this purpose include autotransformers, thermal resistors, and water resistors~~
