On-site safety: “3 must-haves” – There must be warnings in the presence of hazards, measures to prevent mistakes must be in place, and plans must exist for emergency situations. Work safety: “4 must-haves” – Certificates are required for special types of work; three essential safety devices are necessary for work at heights; fire extinguishers must be available wherever welding takes place; power isolation and labeling are required during maintenance tasks. Electrical safety: “5 must-haves” – Interlocks are necessary for highly dangerous situations; equipment must be grounded; exposed wires must be enclosed in conduits; buttons must have labels; explosion protection is required in areas with dust. Mechanical safety: “6 must-haves” – Covers must be installed on wheels; shafts must be fitted with guards; barriers must be in place around machines; holes must be covered with lids; guards must be used at points where compression occurs; wrenches must be available for gas cylinders

Where there is operation, there must be procedures; where there is training, there must be confirmation. That’s well said. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Where there is training, there must be a summary; where there is operation, there must be supervision; where there are hazardous chemicals, there must be notification; where there are violations, there must be penalties; where there are special operations, there must be permits; where there is production, there must be contingency plans; where there are contingency plans, there must be drills; where there are men, there must be women. PS: The gender imbalance in chemical plants is severe these days!
