Belt conveyors, also known as belt transporters or tape conveyors, are widely used in industries such as electronics, electrical appliances, machinery, postal services, printing, and food processing. They are primarily used for the assembly, inspection, testing, packaging, and transportation of items. Belt conveyors have advantages such as strong conveying capacity, long conveying distance, simple structure for easy maintenance, and the ability to facilitate programmed control and automated operation. It uses the continuous or intermittent movement of a conveyor belt to transport items weighing up to 100 KG, as well as powdered or granular materials. It operates at high speed, smoothly, with low noise, and can transport items uphill and downhill. When using belt conveyors in normal operation, the drums sometimes experience wear, which affects our normal work. Why is this? The drums of belt conveyors can experience wear. The main cause of this problem is an overly small design gap between the drum bracket and the drum; additionally, the vertical distance between the holes provided in the building foundation is less than the distance between the drum brackets. During the operation of the belt, excessive belt tension leads to changes in its traction force. The return-path deposits were not cleaned thoroughly, resulting in the accumulation of debris that caused friction on the adhesive layer. Regarding the design factors, the main reason for the wear of the rubber lining on the drum is the excessive small distance between the drum bracket and the drum, as well as the fact that the longitudinal distance between the holes prepared in the foundation is less than the distance between the drum brackets; this makes it difficult to remove accumulated debris in a timely manner. Working environment factors are the second reason for localized damage to belt conveyors. To prevent wear on the drums of belt conveyors, we need to pay close attention to the issues mentioned above during use, which can help effectively extend the machine’s service life.
