As long as the material meets ASME standards, the material certificate lists the ASME grade, and all required inspection items are present. . . And the owner didn’t request it. . I estimate that 95% of the domestic U-stamp products are made from materials produced in China. .

Can ASME-rated materials produced by domestic steel mills (such as steel plates, forgings, castings, steel pipes, etc.) be used in U-stamp equipment? If so, what procedures are required? They can be used for U- and S-stamp products. For the base material: the material used for pressure-bearing components must meet the requirements of ASME certification; however, non-ASME materials can be re-approved as certain ASME materials in accordance with UG-10 in Volume 8, Part 1, or PG-10 in Volume 1. This process is rather complex, and we do not recommend it. Moreover, common ASME materials can be produced by domestic manufacturers and are readily available. We hope that manufacturers will use ASME materials as the base material for pressure-bearing components when producing ASME-stamped products.
The material certification must meet the requirements of the ASME Material Handbook. Otherwise, the AI definitely will not agree to approve it. If you try to obtain ASME material certification on your own, AI is unlikely to agree to it.
All manufacturing processes meet the relevant ASME requirements; there are no other specific requirements. Domestic ASME-certified manufacturers can serve as ASME material suppliers.
It is recommended to visit the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Boilers and Pressure Vessels to check the list of materials provided by those suppliers that have obtained the qualification for technical evaluation; for more details, please refer to http://www.cscbpv.org.cn/index.php?m=content&c=index&a=lists&catid=32
