The outlet gas from the low-temperature separator in the dehydration unit of a natural gas processing plant in the northwest region contains excessive liquid, resulting in a dew point of the product gas that exceeds the specified limits. The owner and the design institute have turned to us for technical upgrade and renovation solutions. The low-temperature separator is the final stage that ensures natural gas meets the required standards before it is sent out from the dehydration unit. The original low-temperature separator had internal components consisting of spiral baffles (vortex plates) plus wire mesh, provided by the Chinese East China branch of a foreign company. The gas stream first passes through the spiral baffle to remove liquid droplets, and then flows out of the separator after further droplet removal via a wire mesh demister. The demisting separation internals of this structure inherently have unsatisfactory demisting efficiency and operational flexibility. Furthermore, due to the large fluctuations in parameters such as pressure, flow rate, and gas-liquid ratio of the gas coming from upstream, the performance of the original low-temperature separator is even less satisfactory. At the request of the owner and the design institute, we provided a combined set of components consisting of a \"pre-coalescing internal element\" and a \"patented vaned separation internal element\" to upgrade and replace the original spiral baffle + mesh foam removal internal elements. We also provided curves showing operational efficiency and pressure drop, enabling highly efficient removal of liquid droplets with a size of 4.75 microns or larger, achieving a separation efficiency of 99.99%. Please share your experiences regarding the operation of low-temperature separators at home and abroad, as well as the progress in technical upgrades and modifications, so as to jointly improve the technical level of these equipment.
Apart from entrained water, centrifugal swirl and vane-type baffle plates are currently more effective

However, there are various types of centrifugal swirlers; for example, spiral baffle plates (also known as centrifugal swirl plates) do not provide satisfactory defoaming and separation effects, just as in the case of the spiral baffle plates used in the low-temperature separators mentioned above. The multi-factor swirl mother-son separation demister boasts a very high demisting and separation efficiency; it is also a type of centrifugal swirl, but differences in the internal component structure result in significant variations in performance. The baffle internals also have unsatisfactory demisting and separation efficiency, and their performance is even worse than that of mesh demisters. Baffles were later developed into blades, and those in turn evolved into a set of vaned separation internals. The internal flow channel design makes use of more sophisticated fluid dynamics-based separation techniques, which certainly results in a significant improvement in the efficiency of foam removal as well as in the operational flexibility. Do you mean the vaned baffle when you refer to the \"wing-type baffle\"? Its demisting and separation efficiency is indeed good. However, the vane-separated internal component set should essentially not be classified as a baffle, but rather as an upgraded version of a structure with highly efficient separation vanes.
