Our factory uses steel-band level gauges from Tokyo Keikyo for measuring the height of gas tanks, and recently these gauges have been giving inaccurate readings. Upon inspection, it was found that ice had formed inside the gauge head; steam was used to heat and remove about 5 liters of water accumulated there. I’m seeking advice from those who may have encountered this issue – where could the water come from (all connections of the steel-band conduits are sealed)? What should be done to address this problem? Should heating be provided via steam or electric heating? Are there any better solutions? Thank you~! !

It’s all explained clearly in that article! You can also ask the manufacturer whether a liquid seal tube can be added to solve the issue……
I’ve never seen level gauges for steel strips; do they tend to crystallize or is it something else? It depends on the medium being measured. In my company, we use differential pressure type gauges, those with flanges and capillaries, as well as magnetic flap level gauges, external-type level gauges, weight-based level gauges, rotameter level gauges, and radar level gauges. I don’t think there are any other types; all of them seem to be quite stable.
