As the title suggests, is it necessary to install a pressure gauge at the outlet of a centrifugal pump?

For example, if the outlet for the pumped material is a vessel at atmospheric pressure or simply a tank or something similar, then what is the purpose of a pressure gauge? In the past, centrifugal pumps used for irrigation in rural areas did not have pressure gauges at their outlets. In a factory, pressure gauges aren’t expensive either; it can’t hurt to install one.
