What are the characteristics of bubble fluidized bed boilers?
In a bubbling fluidized bed boiler (BFBB), combustion primarily takes place in the dense phase region at the lower part of the furnace. For ordinary gangue bituminous coal, lean coal, and anthracite, the proportion of combustion that occurs in the dense phase region ranges from 75% to 95%, and the air required for combustion is mainly supplied to the bed layer via primary air. The remaining fuel burns in suspension in the dilute-phase zone at the upper part of the furnace; therefore, in terms of the combustion mechanism, the BFBB is similar to a stratified combustion furnace.
