For a technical upgrade project here, it is necessary to recover around 60% of the ethanol (with water as the remaining component), with the recovery concentration needing to be over 90%. Can the above objectives be achieved solely through a distillation kettle? We hope to avoid using the distillation tower as much as possible. I would appreciate your advice; thank you!
A distillation unit will definitely enable meeting the required specifications; how else can concentration be increased without a distillation unit? The amount of water that needs to be removed is quite substantial

For the 3rd floor, your link isn’t very useful for us; we only need an ethanol concentration of 90%, and it’s not necessary to use anhydrous ethanol. I also know that distillation alone cannot achieve very high concentrations.
OP, is there a solution available now? We also plan to recover ethanol and methanol from the acidic water; the water content is estimated to be similar to yours. We don’t want to use a distillation tower either – we simply aim to achieve this through simple distillation.

Agreed. Single-stage balancing cannot achieve 90%. However, it’s simple to reach 90% in a distillation column – just look at the phase diagram.
