When working on projects, it is common for the minimum flow line of the pump to lead back to the tank upstream. However, there are exceptions: when it is not possible to make openings in the sedimentation tank, the pump’s minimum return line goes back to the pump’s feed line (which is located at the bottom of the tank). Does this affect the reflux process?

Does this affect the reflux process? ——There’s no problem with this. One of the pumps in our system originally had its minimum return line leading back to the pump’s inlet pipeline; however, this pump would often experience vacuum conditions due to overheating. So I changed that line to lead to the inlet tank, with the aim of achieving gas-liquid separation and preventing cavitation in the pump. ——At first, since the device was operating normally and the tank could not be opened, venting was done at the upper vent on the tank’s glass panel; it was only after operations were halted that it was switched to the inlet pipeline of the tank.
We have direct connections at the inlet and outlet of the pump; the medium is ammonia condensate/ammonia water
If the backflow isn’t too much, there’s no noticeable difference in actual use.

Two points need to be noted: 1. There are no valves for routine operation on the pipeline between the return interface and the tank, to ensure that the pressure inside the tank can effectively buffer the pressure in the inlet pipeline. 2. Ensure that the pump does not operate at low flow rates for extended periods, otherwise heating issues may occur.
