Issues regarding the sulfidation and passivation of hydrogenation catalysts for sulfur-containing exhaust gases

When a sulfur-containing exhaust gas hydrogenation reactor is put into operation for the first time, it needs to be sulfided. What are the requirements for the acidic gas used for this purpose? Can ARS acidic gas meet these sulfidization requirements? Additionally, during the shutdown period, the catalyst needs to be passivated. What is the passivation medium? I’m new to sulfur processing, so I hope experts can provide some guidance.

The damping medium is air; inert exhaust gas is recycled, and the amount of air introduced is increased gradually depending on the temperature rise. We have not successfully applied exhaust gas recycling, and passivation is said to take at least 3 days. Based on years of experience, without exhaust gas recirculation, intermittent air passivation takes 6 days.
