After the antifreeze heating system was put into use in winter, the traps were found to become clogged frequently. I regret that the traps haven’t been properly maintained on a regular basis. Previously, when stopping the heat tracing, we would stop the steam supply and vent the trap; later on, we stopped only the trap supply while continuing to provide steam. In any case, it seems that things will be better if no air gets in after it’s turned off. When it’s useful, it’s best not to include a desiccant at first; wait until steam is present before adding it.
