The PCV valves and EBV valves that are typically used in power plants are not actually different from each other. Could some valve expert please explain whether these two concepts refer to the same thing? What kind of history, thank you!
A quick search on Baidu shows that the following is copied from the Internet: EBV refers to the PCV valve, an electromagnetic release valve; it’s the same thing, just with a different name; PCV valves are generally installed one on each side of the superheater outlet, with no such valves installed elsewhere. Their main function is to regulate the main steam pressure; the setting pressure at which they open is usually lower than the opening pressure of the safety valves, serving as a mechanism to prevent the safety valves from opening frequently. Additionally, these valves can be activated remotely. The opening pressure of a safety valve is primarily determined by the pressure in the pipeline; it is this pipeline pressure that acts directly on the valve core. In the case of a PCV valve, the force that controls its opening comes from the actuator. A pressure sensor measures the pressure in the pipeline, and this value is then used to control the PCV valve; the control mechanism uses electrical energy to move the valve core open or closed. A safety valve will open only when the actual pressure reaches its set pressure, whereas a PCV valve can be activated at a specified pressure; thus, operators can control its activation at any time, regardless of the actual pressure. Of course, in most cases, no manual intervention is required. The primary function of the PCV valve is to relieve pressure, thereby ensuring that the safety valve does not activate frequently and preventing it from operating repeatedly.
