How should safety efforts be carried out at the end of the year to achieve maximum results with minimal effort? 【I】Emphasizing safety awareness: After a year of hard work, it has finally come to the time to reap the rewards. From corporate leaders to middle managers, from team leaders to frontline employees, everyone is focused on how to make further efforts in production, striving to improve performance and achieve good results in the annual evaluations. Undoubtedly, this phenomenon exists in over 90% of enterprises. But it’s very bad, as it causes employees to subconsciously relax their vigilance regarding safety. Once there are such risks in an employee’s mindset, it inevitably leads to various behaviors that go against safety principles; attitudes such as recklessness, a desire for risk, a preference for convenience, a tendency to avoid effort, and fear of trouble all come to the surface at this stage. Therefore, focusing on the safety awareness education of employees should be a top priority at the turn of the year. In addition to pre-shift meetings and weekly meetings, it is also necessary to take various measures such as sharing typical accident cases, providing concise safety reminders, and offering diverse safety training to keep a tight grip on this aspect. 【II】Addressing hidden safety hazards: Many companies have a problem in that, as long as a safety hazard does not affect normal production and operations (such as when no notice for rectification is issued by the safety supervision authorities or when higher-level management does not personally oversee the matter), people generally do not rush to take action. Ensure that the relevant departments responsible for production, equipment, operations, and engineering carry out these corrections; for those hazards that cannot be resolved in a short time, pressure must be exerted on these departments to take temporary measures to prevent problems. 【III】Ensuring traffic safety: At the turn of the year, when it’s cold and freezing, there are often heavy fog and snow, resulting in poor road conditions. Therefore, safety precautions become particularly important. Additionally, companies hold more meetings, social events, and business trips toward the end of the year, leading to an increased frequency of vehicle use compared to usual. In some cases, in an effort to meet year-end targets, certain departments arrange for employees to work overtime, which in turn results in many cases of driving at night or while fatigued. Therefore, at this time, safety officers must focus on strengthening traffic safety education and training for drivers and all employees, conduct thorough safety inspections of company vehicles, ensure that vehicle maintenance is carried out properly, and strictly enforce systems such as the \"vehicle dispatch form,\" \"key handover,\" and \"four reports.\" Of course, in addition to traffic safety, protecting against cold, slippage, fire, static electricity, and equipment freezing are also key aspects of winter safety measures. 【IV】Emphasizing safety inspections: Many companies have well-organized safety inspection plans at the end of the year. The approach involves company leaders leading teams, with department heads and safety officers accompanying them, adhering to principles of comprehensive coverage, zero tolerance, and a focus on practical results – ensuring that no aspect is overlooked and no area is left unchecked... However, due to a lack of competence among leaders, insufficient effort from departments, and inadequate attention to safety issues, there is much talk but little actual action, which significantly reduces the effectiveness of these inspections. So what exactly should safety officers do to ensure that the safety inspections at the end of the year are effective? The editor recommends adopting a method of cross-departmental inspections, focusing on key areas; organizing training for inspection team members in advance, and ensuring that company leaders pay attention to the inspection results, department heads focus on the outcomes of the inspections, and safety personnel concentrate on the effectiveness of these inspections.
