As the title suggests, why not weld it shut with a pipe cap? Although I know that flange caps are used for future connection purposes, it seems to me that many of the pipes don’t actually need to be connected. Are there any other considerations? For example, at the end of the circulating water supply main or the end of the return water main?

This is simply a matter of convention; in our factory, flat-end closures were used a few years ago, while elliptical-end closures are the most common these days. Using a flange cover is also good; it facilitates disassembly for cleaning, and it’s possible to remove the flange cover at any time to weld on some kind of purging fitting. This is one of the reasons why we approved of this approach.
Can we also take it apart to check the pipes?
For capacity expansion and renovations, as well as minor repairs, it’s necessary to use such methods; if things are welded shut before making further modifications, it will cause various inconveniences.

Taking circulating water as an example, what needs to be flushed and cleaned? Are it the impurities that impact the end of the pipe?
