How long is the typical service life of SKF bearings? If the bearing is damaged, I suspect it’s a quality issue. How can I detect and determine this? How long is the typical lifespan of a mechanical seal? Who has used the mechanical seals from Tianjin Klan/Dalian Huayang, and what is their quality like?
The quality of SKF bearings is pretty good; if nothing goes wrong, they can last a year with ease
The normal service life of bearings is 8,000 hours; however, in cases where they operate under poor conditions with excessive loads, their service life is shortened. We have been using Crank’s dry gas seals, and they perform well, with a typical service life of around one year. On the downside, they are expensive and come with high maintenance costs. I’ve never used the Dalian Shaohua model; my company uses the Sichuan Nikki model, which is relatively better although its price is on the higher side.
I believe the service life of the above two components is mainly related to the quality of maintenance and installation; in many cases, it is caused by rough installation or improper installation
The service life of the mechanical seal is generally required to be 8,000 hours, while that of the bearings is usually 20,000 hours. It’s explained in any API specification.
SKF products are of good quality; they usually last for about a year. For machine seals, it is recommended to use those from Xi’an Yonghua, Dongguan Huahui, Borgman, and John Crane. The first two manufacturers produce domestic products, while Xi’an Yonghua specializes in bellows seals. The latter two brands offer foreign-made products that are more expensive and come with complicated after-sales support
