Early on the 22nd, for drivers in the United States, Christmas arrived early; on Monday they received a great gift: the average gasoline price across the country dropped below $2 per gallon, for the first time since March 2009. Meanwhile, oil prices in some parts of the United States have dropped below $1.60 per gallon, which is equivalent to 2.70 yuan per liter. The American Automobile Association (AAA) officially announced on Monday that the average gasoline price across the United States is $1.998 per gallon, while GasBuddy.com, a service that provides information on fuel prices, calculated an average gasoline price of $1.995 per gallon nationwide. Both of these figures represent the lowest levels recorded since March 25, 2009. Such low oil prices don’t they encourage car owners to consume excessively and thereby increase pollution? What has the US Development and Reform Commission been doing? Why not raise oil prices? The ordinary people must firmly oppose it and resist it resolutely.
