Hello everyone, I’m facing a problem. There is a pump used to handle a medium that is 20% fuming sulfuric acid; the pressure at the pump’s outlet is 1.1 MPa, and the medium is highly corrosive. 1. Using an external seal: The PTFE bellows cannot withstand such high pressures; the seal will be damaged after just ten days to half a month of use. 2. Using an internal seal: When the medium is highly corrosive, it will corrode the seal elements, causing it to stop working after a short period of time as well. Do any of your organizations have pumps with similar operating conditions, and what type of sealing is used?
It’s very simple; many different sealing solutions can address this issue, and no pump type can offer more than that. .
What is it used for? With such high pressure, I use niacin pumps here to transfer 3 or 4 kilograms of liquid sulfur for production purposes

Are there any pictures? It’s probably because the selected model isn’t suitable for the operating conditions
The main requirement is that the components must be corrosion-resistant. There’s no major issue with the rotating and stationary rings; graphite, silicon carbide, or ceramics can all be used. The O-rings also present no problems – PTFE can be used for them. It’s a bit more complicated with regard to the compensating elements; in such cases, 316L can be used.
These pumps are all magnetic drive pumps designed for use in testing, and they don’t have such issues. .
