Installation of a standard orifice plate for gas measurement: According to the installation manual, must the transmitter be placed at a higher level than the orifice plate? Must the pressure tap be vertical upward? What impact would it have if it were at 45 degrees (i.e., the angle at which steam is introduced)? Operating conditions for the fuel gas: 40 degrees, 0.35 MPa.
It’s not necessary either; some are installed at the bottom as well, to hold the balance container and fill it with condensed water. A 45-degree inclination or vertical installation, in my opinion, has little impact on the measurements.
Check the operating dew point of the gas; if it is, for example, -15 degrees, which is lower than the ambient temperature, then no condensation will occur, and it doesn’t matter whether it is installed vertically or horizontally. If the gas is methane or similar and free of water, follow the steps above; if water may be present, it is recommended to use heat tracing and install it in an upward direction. With water present, the dew point can be used to assess whether condensate is likely to form. Horizontal pressure tapping is a moderate approach; it’s quite practical and doesn’t lead to errors. @jiaguoyun
Under normal circumstances, the transmitter should be installed above the pressure tapping point, which should be located at an angle of 0–90 degrees above. If the transmitter is installed below the pressure tapping point, a liquid collection tank should be installed at the lowest point of the pressure conduit, with the liquid in the tank being drained regularly.
There’s no issue with measurement; problems may arise in extreme situations, such as when the medium contains liquid.
It is clearly stated that it can be installed. My installation diagram allows it to be installed vertically or horizontally, but the pressure guide pipe must have a certain slope when placed horizontally
