Are there standard specifications requiring that jet fuel storage and transportation be in separate systems? Can aviation fuel be transported together with gasoline and diesel through the same pipelines?
Aviation fuel has very high quality requirements; gasoline and diesel must not be mixed with aviation fuel, but they can be mixed with each other.
Gasoline and diesel can be transported together with jet fuel, but diesel must be used as the carrier for the jet fuel (as their properties are similar). The resulting mixture can be used as diesel. Currently, the refined oil pipeline connecting Zhenhai and Xiaoshan airports operated by Sinopec uses a transportation sequence that involves jet fuel first, followed by gasoline and diesel.
Aviation fuel must be handled and used specifically, with dedicated pumps for its use.
