I would like to ask the experienced colleagues: for the temperature transmitters built into the pumps on site, are their wires connected to the instrument control room? However, the system points in the control room do not include the points inherent to those pumps.
Generally, high-voltage, high-power motors are equipped with temperature sensors; there is one sensor for each of the front and rear bearings, and one sensor for the temperature of each of the UVW three-phase windings, for a total of five sensors. This is used to participate in the motor stop interlock.
Generally, high-power units come with five points; whether they need to be connected to the DCS depends on the design. Everything is determined by the design specifications. If no such design exists, it’s still possible to connect them to the DCS for use in generating alarms, which can be useful for electrical maintenance personnel.
There is no design for it; do these signals usually go to the electrical switchgear?
This signal does not go directly to the electrical switchgear; if it does go somewhere, it first goes to the DCS, where it sends a signal via interlock logic to the electrical system. If there is no design for it, then the designer can be reminded; if the designer also thinks it’s unnecessary, then no action is needed. If it really needs to be taken into consideration, it can simply be incorporated into the DCS for alarm display
Such signals are primarily driven by user requests, and the design is adjusted according to your requirements. Everything here has been integrated into the DCS; no one dares to say against adding it, as no one wants to take on that responsibility. Adding it benefits everyone, with only minor issues related to the instruments.
Check whether the manufacturer/maintenance team/process engineers need to access the DCS for monitoring or interlocking purposes; if so, go ahead and connect it
There is usually a surplus of I&C points, so it’s possible to request that instruments be connected—for alarms, interlocks, etc.; the process team will make the decision~~
