Seeing Haichuan’s “Thanksgiving Season” campaign, I think back to the company where I have worked for over 10 years – through the ups and downs of crude oil prices and those of refined products, from industry economic crises to the upgrade to National V standards, as well as from the company’s expansion and renovation efforts to mergers and restructurings in other locations. I’ve gone through a lot and met many people. But looking back, the person who had the greatest influence on me was my first mentor, who was also my former squad leader (we now call him ‘Old Boss’). For a newcomer, a young kid who would one day become an apprentice in the refining industry, my master constantly taught me how to be a person: ‘Be honest in your behavior and diligent in your work.’ ’The master said, “An apprentice must start with small tasks in daily life. Whether they can do it is a matter of attitude, while whether they know how to do it is a matter of skill.” ; ”My mentor developed a learning plan for me; during the day, I was urged to go through the procedures, while at night I was required to study the operating guidelines. I would take exams whenever I had time – on topics such as the function of cross-line processes, the diameter of pipelines, and equipment structure. I was always full of confidence, but each time I was tested in different ways. In every exam, there were more criticisms than compliments. What impressed me the most at that time was that my mentor could tell exactly which page in the book a particular question came from. As the old master’s apprentice, I did everything with great effort; the paint spots all over my pants and the oil and dust on my shoes were proof of that, yet the master said I wasn’t good at doing work. (Looking back now, I really wasn’t good at doing work back then, hehe~) My supervisor, as the team leader, was very responsible for his work and was extremely strict in managing the team during working hours. Not only are the requirements strict for us newcomers, but the experienced workers are equally strict: sleeping on duty is strictly prohibited, as is smoking ; When seeing an experienced worker sleeping on duty, the team leader goes straight to address the issue and take action; sometimes they even resort to applying the team’s rules for punishment. During work, one should constantly keep an eye on the status of team members. If some employees spend too much time on inspections, the team leader will go to the equipment area; and when there is work that needs to be done, they will call us to go to the site and help out ; It was discovered that an experienced teacher who smoked often did so in a hidden place during inspections; without hesitation, he was sent to the workshop for handling ; (In his words, ‘the refining industry is no joke – not the slightest carelessness is allowed.’) But after work, he’s much more approachable; after the middle shift, the whole team gets together for a barbecue party, chatting and laughing. During holidays, he would ask us newcomers (who couldn’t go home due to shift work) to have meals at his place ; My mentor progressed step by step, from team leader to technician, from workshop supervisor to department head. In our team, some are still operators, some are team leaders or technicians, and some are even in management positions. Now, when the team gets the chance to have a meal together, everyone is very grateful to the team leader and feels proud of their former team. I am very grateful to my master for teaching me the knowledge of oil refining and how to be a person ; I am grateful to my team leader; he taught me how a team should function together, and his own experiences helped us learn how to develop as individuals. . . No matter where I go or what position I hold now, I am always grateful to my mentor, thankful to my boss!
Well written. This year, the days for oil production units are likely to be extremely tough; they will have to rely on refining to make up for it.
Yes, the three major oil companies have been cutting staff and reducing costs to save money. Crude oil prices have been falling; refining operations are just starting to be profitable, while the profitability of the fine chemical industry remains decent~
What a rare and good team leader – one who first learns to be a decent person before handling tasks
Such a strict master? There is a beautification phenomenon. Guo Degang said: Do not beautify yourself. ^_^
In the refining industry, strictness is a good thing; as we move forward step by step, I think you’ll understand
With a grateful heart, well done
What are the requirements for different industries? Generally, small businesses don’t have many requirements
It’s extremely difficult to progress from team leader to plant manager – well done! ! !
