Oil emulsification is basically caused by an excessive amount of water in the oil. It might be the condensation water from the oil cap at low temperatures. During short-distance driving, since this component is mostly made of non-metallic materials, heat transfer is slow; therefore, when driving over short distances in very low ambient temperatures, the condensation water may not be able to evaporate. The formula of engine oil includes anti-emulsifiers as well as components that prevent emulsification.
