Regarding internal floating roof storage tanks, there are several questions that need to be addressed in light of the actual operating conditions on site; everyone is encouraged to respond actively: 1. Do the radar level gauges and the insertion tubes for measuring liquid level need to be arranged symmetrically, so as to ensure a more even rise and fall of the floating disk? 2. Should the feed pipeline be designed as a distribution pipe inside the equipment, so as to allow the floating disk to rise and fall evenly? 3. What diameter should storage tanks have to make it appropriate to provide 2 manholes for maintenance?
1. A symmetrical arrangement is beneficial for the natural lifting and lowering of the floating pad, helping to prevent accidents such as those involving rotating discs. 2. Whether to install a diffusion tube depends on the liquid inlet flow rate.
The original poster is very thorough, but our storage tanks have never taken those first two factors into consideration; the level gauges and oil sampling ports are located on both sides of the tank’s upper platform
For aluminum internal floating roofs, anti-rotation steel wires are generally used; the level gauge tubes are located near the operation platform, and oil measurement holes usually do not have sleeves. The number of manholes is specified in SH/T 3007-2014

The oil measurement pipes certainly need to be arranged symmetrically, which not only improves the appearance but also prevents the floating disk from tilting; aluminum floating disks tend to tilt easily, and severe tilting can cause the disk to sink. 2. There is no need to install distribution pipes in the feed line – generally, a maximum flow rate is specified before the floating disk reaches its maximum elevation; however, the circulation lines are equipped with rotating nozzles. 3. For capacities of over 10,000 cubic meters, two manholes are required
As a floating tray manufacturer, we can only provide answers regarding the use of floating trays. 1. The symmetry or asymmetry of the radar level gauge and the insertion tubes for measuring oil levels has little impact on the installation of the floating tray or its elevation; however, the verticality of the pipelines does affect the elevation of the floating tray. If the pipelines are tilted, it is easy for problems such as jamming to occur when the floating tray rises. Our design drawings take into account the pipelines inside your tank when designing the floating tray, with holes pre-arranged on it. 2. The floating disk is very light; it is not afraid of liquids – what it fears most are gases. If the flow rate of the liquid is low, a distribution tube is not necessary. However, if the flow rate is high, the impact of the liquid may cause the support legs of the floating disk to tilt, which could lead to instability as the disk descends. 3. For tanks with a capacity of over 10,000 cubic meters, it is advisable to provide two manholes
