I was also given responsibility for managing the laboratory; in essence, I became the head of the laboratory, though without an official title. I was fully responsible for all aspects of laboratory work. You knew that I could handle the tasks related to production testing and analysis, and it was because of your selflessness, fairness, and dedication to the good of others that you served as my strong backing, allowing me to take charge of management. Due to the efficient management of the laboratory, they saw that I had some free time, so they assigned to me the tasks related to maintaining orderly production in the workshop, as well as party-related work, publicity and reporting for the entire unit, and event organization. They even considered appointing me as the deputy head of the workshop. However, my spouse said that working day and night on starting and stopping machinery at the workplace might be too much for my health, so I didn’t take on that role. It was you who forced me to join the party. At that time, there were no female Party members in the workshop. You, on the other hand, forced me to work beyond my capacity every day, with demands that were almost harsh. It took nearly two years of such treatment before I finally joined the Chinese Communist Party on November 22, 2002 – a day that is unforgettable, and whose value I appreciate all the more because it wasn’t easy to achieve. When I was at the front line guiding laboratory work, identifying potential problems in production, and managing laboratory operations, I felt confident, because I knew you were my constant support. Your commitment to quality in production meant that you were willing to challenge the managers; there were no weak or indecisive managers around. Thanks to your persistence, they made concessions. It is because of you that I can be so determined and brave. It was a day for year-end summaries, and also the season when model workers emerged.
