On November 30, 2015, Sinochem 14th Company successfully signed a construction contract for a new-process aromatic compounds project at Gansu Huasheng Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd., with a capacity of 450,000 tons per year. The contract value was 150 million yuan, and the planned completion date was from March 15, 2016, to August 31, 2017. Designed by Ningbo Chemical Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd., this project uses high-temperature coal tar, medium- and low-temperature coal tar as raw materials, and relies on the suspended-bed hydrogenation process to build an aromatic hydrocarbon plant with an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons. The main products are Aromatic Hydrocarbon 3#, Aromatic Hydrocarbon 2#, and Aromatic Hydrocarbon 1#, thereby maximizing the added value derived from the processing of waste oil and coal tar. The project is in line with **industrial policies, meets the requirements for comprehensive resource utilization and the development of a circular economy, and plays a positive role in promoting local economic development.

Gansu Huasheng Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd.’s 450,000 tons per year aromatic hydrocarbons production project is located in the High-Tech Development Zone of Baiyin City, Gansu Province. This project uses the methanol cracking process to produce hydrogen, and employs a mature and advanced clean production technology that combines suspended-bed hydrogenation with fixed-bed hydrogenation to carry out hydrogenation conversion of 200,000 tons per year of inexpensive and low-quality waste oil and 300,000 tons per year of coal tar, resulting in an annual output of 450,000 tons of aromatic hydrocarbons. The total investment for the project is 1,383.24 million yuan. It’s a bit like the VCC process.
