Our factory purchased a 4-ton gas steam boiler. During the research phase, the boiler manufacturer suggested using imported burner brands such as Lieyalu and Buderus, and those burners were quite expensive; in the end, we chose Buderus’ low-nitrogen burners. Now that the boilers and burners have arrived, it turns out that the structure of the burners is not complicated. Given China’s ability to imitate products, it shouldn’t be difficult to create burners with similar functions or even better performance. So why then is no one willing to use domestic burner brands? Are there certain factors that hinder the development of domestic burners, making them less effective than foreign ones?
The poster is right; it’s not difficult to imitate foreign burners, but producing all the components and then assembling them does not result in performance on par with that of foreign burners. There is still a difference in quality between domestic electrical components and those from abroad, which leads to frequent replacements.

Burners are part of the boiler system, but generally, boiler manufacturers do not produce burners; they only manufacture pressure vessels. The burner is thus separated from the boiler system and purchased separately. To ensure safety, the entire combustion system is purchased as a single unit; from the beginning, foreign-made products are preferred, as they are reliable, while domestic products are not trusted by anyone. 2. The burner is merely passed on by the boiler manufacturer; given that safety comes first, the manufacturer will not consider whether to use domestic or imported products, all for the sake of profit. Moreover, for **career development-related items 3, given previous experience, the manufacturers also recommend foreign products to clients. 4. There are too many boiler manufacturers in China, and most of them use foreign burners; following what others do, it is difficult for domestic products to take hold of the market. 5. **There are no specific provisions to support the development in this area, and studying combustion is a dangerous task.** 6. If it’s not technically feasible, then use an ignition programming box, from Siemens. There is no imitation in the domestic market, or at least it’s rare. It’s estimated that even if it were imitated, there wouldn’t be a market for it; the investment is high with no return. 7. In fact, programming can be used within the PLC to replace the ignition control box; in practice, this PLC is only used to collect P, T, and L values, resulting in underutilization of its capabilities. As for the number of people who understand both combustion and programming, it’s not very practical to handle so many burners across the country in that way. There are too few composite talents. 8. Institutions specializing in combustion theory have shifted their focus to internal combustion engines; only a few institutions are working together with boiler manufacturers to advance research in combustion. 9. There are no major manufacturers of burners in China; most are agents. It’s more convenient and easier to make money by doing it on your own. Moreover, some of the agency companies are boiler manufacturers. 10. It’s too difficult to start a burner manufacturer on one’s own. Both technology and market are necessary. Unless foreign burners are forced to be banned, domestic ones will have a chance to succeed. But this is impossible. 11. **We handle major tasks; most projects are subcontracted. Money has been spent; there have been successive cuts to funding, and there are several aspects related to technology. A few more people are dedicating themselves to research. **It’s a systemic issue: managers outweigh technicians, and talent can never be retained. Talents are all striving to become managers.
It was explained in great detail; it seems that the main issue is the lack of sufficient **support, and boiler manufacturers are also unwilling to take on the responsibility of promoting domestic burner brands.

There are several domestic burner brands, but not many of them are sold, and not many people in the industry pay attention to them. This time, **emphasis is placed on low NOx levels; for example, starting from April 1, 2017, in Beijing, new boilers were required to have NOx emissions of less than 30 mg/m3. Foreign brands (at least European brands) have not been able to meet this requirement, which has given domestic burners an opportunity to get off the ground and develop at a faster pace. But the fact that everyone is focusing on the metal fiber burner as a possible path that might not work is still concerning.
The burner industry abroad developed much earlier than in China, and it possesses extensive experience in combustion technology. Imitation mostly remains at the level of resemblance; there is still much room for improvement in terms of precision, stability, and safety of burners in China.
Industrial burners are all monopolized by Honeywell; Maxon, Tienshi, and Hawker have all been merged into one company
This industry is a small circle; without sufficient funding, there can be no accumulation of technology or rapid development. The technicians in this industry lead very tough lives. Some large companies appear prosperous but are unable to retain talent.
Domestic burners have clear advantages in terms of personalized customization, such as the ability to add a small amount of waste gas or waste liquid. These imported, pre-shaped burners cannot meet the requirements.
