Our company has designed multiple LNG plants. During the safety inspections in various locations, some experts used the \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises\" GB50160 for evaluation, while others used the \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Natural Gas Engineering Projects\" GB50183. Which code should be applied?
GB50160 is used in the design of LNG plants, and GB50160 is also applied for safety reviews; GB50183 is adopted in the design, so GB50183 should be used for the safety review.

It turns out that such situations have occurred before; the fire department used either building codes or petrochemical industry regulations when inspecting petrochemical plants, but nowadays inspections are mostly carried out in accordance with petrochemical industry regulations. In the draft for partial revision of the petrochemical code GB50160-2008, the explanatory text under clause 1.02 on general provisions states that \"for coal-based chemical engineering projects, aside from the transportation, storage, and processing of coal, the subsequent processing steps are identical to those in petroleum chemical processes; therefore, this code can be used as a reference.\" In my personal opinion, projects that produce LNG from coke oven gas should fall under the category of coal chemical engineering; therefore, finding appropriate standards is indeed a problem. . . I believe that the standards applicable to construction projects need to be carefully discussed and confirmed with local authorities in charge of safety supervision and fire protection, so that the review process can proceed smoothly; otherwise, things will become difficult, leading to greater potential losses for the project owners. . .
