Our company’s atmospheric and vacuum distillation units process more than a dozen types of crude oil, including Russian crude, Saudi light crude, medium crude, heavy crude, Qatari onshore crude, Panyu crude, and condensate. Due to inventory issues, the blending of these crudes is highly uneven, which makes it difficult to operate the various distillation towers. At present, we use a blending method that involves processing the heavier crudes first and then the lighter ones, followed by mixing them using agitators. But the results are not good. I would like to ask all of you here: how do you carry out the blending of atmospheric and vacuum crude oils?

Crudes with excessively poor properties still need to be blended and refined; oils such as condensate and heavy oils are best stored separately and processed through blending to facilitate control of the proportions. There is a conditional blending system that combines crude oils with similar properties. Without any conditions, by receiving crude oil in proportion simultaneously during tank filling, a more uniform mixture of crude oil can be obtained.
