Is it necessary to have a safety valve on top of an atmospheric-pressure tank?
Yes, in case a valve is operated incorrectly and too much medium enters, causing overpressure.
It is necessary from a safety perspective; safety comes first after all, and not every employee is completely reliable
Adding a breather valve will do. It also depends on what kind of container it is and what is stored in it; if there’s no hazard, adding a water seal will do
Isn’t it a pressure vessel safety valve? At atmospheric pressure, tanks – unless it’s LNG, in which case a breathing valve is used, right?
What if it gets blocked? As long as air can’t flow through, it’s better to think about it carefully
