Are pipeline purging and cleaning the same thing?
It should be called purging when using gas, and cleaning when using water.
Piping purging is generally done using plant air or nitrogen, while cleaning should involve water flushing or high-pressure water washing of the heat exchanger tubes
Purging is generally done using compressed air or steam, also known as a purge gun
Piping purging is generally carried out after the hydrostatic test, using factory air; the main purpose is to blow out the water and solid debris inside the pipes. Pipe cleaning is generally carried out by professional cleaning companies using a specially formulated cleaning solution to clean the inner walls of the pipes, with the aim of removing rust and grease from those inner walls
Pipeline cleaning is divided into physical cleaning such as PIG ball cleaning, and chemical cleaning is generally done using citric acid
