Top and side mounting of fixed ball valves

I would like to ask whether fixed ball valves are generally installed sideways or from above, and in what situations are they used respectively? Please help solve this issue, I would be extremely grateful
It should be determined according to the manufacturer’s design; generally, it’s installed on the side. Our unit is of the side-mounted type, and I guess it has nothing to do with the place where it’s used, right?
It is still related to the actual installation site; the low-temperature valves used in the LNG industry all have a top-mounted design. Also, maintenance and repair need to be taken into account. Top-mounted ball valves allow the ball and seals to be replaced without having to remove the valves from the pipeline, which is a result of careful design considerations. Personally, I feel that top-mounted valves have fewer leakage points compared to those mounted on the side.
Mm-hmm, thank you. Are the ball valves used for upper parts generally designed with larger diameters? I guess that’s because they’re more expensive
