As the title suggests, after removing the insulation layer, a thick layer of ablated debris was scattered on top of the manhole cover. Are there any corresponding anti-corrosion and insulation specifications and measures?
For the manhole in our furnaces that operate at over 1000 degrees, we use a plug made of refractory material (composed of four pieces), and then fill the outside part with ceramic fiber fabric – no problems with that. It’s even fine to use some fire-resistant bricks inside as a barrier, with ceramic fiber fabric rolled into columns and packed in place on the outside.
