Can the general layout attached during the feasibility study stage of chemical plant construction be changed in the preliminary design phase?
The overall layout of the device will remain basically unchanged, but the piping will definitely need to be modified
Based on my personal opinion, I need to consider whether there are any red-line issues involved, as well as whether changes in investment could affect the technical and economic indicators
It mainly depends on the red line – within that boundary, you can make modifications. The preliminary design isn’t yet very detailed, but once the plans are submitted for approval, it won’t be so easy to make changes to the overall layout.
The overall layout of FSR can essentially be considered merely a layout plan for the plant area. During subsequent design phases, many possible changes in technical requirements may affect this overall layout. A simple example includes explosion-proofing requirements, health and epidemic prevention requirements, as well as flood control requirements (although flood control requirements don’t necessarily have to be changed). There may also be increases in process equipment. Generally, once the FEED is completed, the overall layout will not change anymore.
The general layout in the feasibility study is merely a planning design, and in most cases, drawings from similar construction projects are used as references. During the preliminary design phase, there will be some modifications to the construction and process plans, which will certainly lead to adjustments to the overall layout.
